Christmas Cookies

sugarcookies

This is a recipe that you can get your children involved with! My daughters love to help with Christmas cookies. They love taking the cookie cutters and cutting out the pieces with me. Its a lot of fun too. With children helping though, you may end up with a big mess. It’s a lot of fun to do with your children though, so I really recommend that you get them involved. The mess is worth the fun you’ll have! 🙂

This recipe will make about 20 cookies, depending on how big or small your cookie cutters are. You will need some ingredients before we begin.

  • some holiday cookie cutters
  • 1 egg
  • 7 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup soft flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • saran wrap
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 bowel
  • some wax paper
  • 1 oven
  • 1 sifter
  • 1 cookie sheet or metal baking tray
  • 1 cutting board
  • some icing (optional)
  • some sprinkles (optional)

If you have everything, then let’s begin!

  1. Let the butter soften to room temperature.
  2. Put it into the bowel and crush it using the wooden spoon.
  3. Add sugar and stir.
  4. Add the egg and stir.
    Mix well!
  5. Pour the flour into the sifter.
Shift the flour into the mix.
    Sir well between sifting!
TIP: If you add all of the flour in at once without mixing in between, it will become very difficult!
  6. Your mix is ready when all flour chunks are gone.
  7. Wrap the mix in saran wrap and put it into the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  8. Pour a bit of flour over the cutting board and rolling pin.
  9. Take the mix out of the refrigerator, remove saran wrap, and put the mix onto the cutting board.
  10. Flatten the mix out with the rolling pin.
  11. Take your cookie cutters and start cutting out cookies from the mix.
You can roll around the mix and re-flatten it as many times as needed to make more cookies.
Try to use as much of the mix as possible. You don’t want to waste!
  12. Place some wax paper on your cookie sheet and start placing the cookies on it.
  13. Once sheet is full, place in oven.
Bake at 180 degrees Celsius (about 325 to 350 degrees Fahrenheit)
Let bake for about 12 to 13 minutes.
  14. Once done, take them out of the oven and let them cool.
  15. Once cool you can add icing and sprinkles if you wish!

You can decorate your cookies as much or as little as you want. You can add sugar on top too if you wish. Do any of this once they are cool though!

Good luck and enjoy!
