Rainbow Jelly/Jello

rainbowjellycupskevinjelly

This is a bit frustrating to make, I think. I don’t make it often as I get frustrated easily. It’s very good though and my daughters love it! Its a tasty treat and is good at birthday parties too, I’ve learned. Children just adore this! Sometimes I’ll top it with whip cream and fruit, such as a cherry, some berries, or a strawberry. You don’t really need to though. It’s very good with or without the added topping. šŸ™‚

This recipe will make you about 8 glasses worth. Each cup will contain 5 different jello layers. Its important that you pick 5 different colouredĀ gelatinĀ as well. If you pick too many of the same colours, it won’t have the neat rainbow effect!

Before we begin, please be sure that you have all of the neededĀ ingredients.

  • 5 different gelatin packs. (5 different flavours and colours)
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar per gelatin
you may need to adjust the amount of sugar needed according to the sweetness of the gelatin.
  • 1 small pot
  • 1 large bowel
  • lots of ice!
  • 1 ladle
  • 8 glasses or cups

If you have everything above, then let’s begin!

  1. Add 1 cup water over low heat.
When it warms up, add theĀ granulated sugar.
    Stir.
  2. Once sugar melts, stop heat.
Do not let the mix boil!
  3. Put gelatin mix in the pot and stir until the powder is completely melted.
  4. When you stir it, white foam may form. Remove it with a ladle.
The jelly will become smoother if you do this.
  5. Fill the large bowel with ice.
  6. Put the pot into the bowel with the ice to cool.
When the mix is cool, pour it into your 8 glasses.
  7. Once you’ve finished with all of the gelatin packages, and filled the glasses put them into theĀ refrigerator.
Leave them in there for about an hour.
  8. Repeat these steps with all 5 gelatin flavours.
Pour each new gelatin flavour onto the last gelatin flavour in each of the 8 glasses.
TIP: You will need to leave the glasses in the refrigerator for about an hour after each new gelatin layer!

A little added tip here, a rainbow has 7 colours, but i don’t have the patience for all that. You may though. So if you’re willing to go with that many colours, give it a try! I would love to see your results! šŸ™‚
